This smaller 12"x2" USDOT number sticker / decal meets FMCSA requirements — 2" tall lettering visible from 50 feet, as required by 49 CFR Part 390. Our USDOT number stickers are die-cut from high quality 9 year outdoor vinyl graphics and come on one, ready to apply sheet. The color you choose is the color of the lettering and is all that is applied. The vehicle color will serve as the background color. There is no clear background, as these are die cut lettering that is pre-spaced and ready to apply on one pull-away carrier sheet. Decal is sold as an individual unit. 1 each. For highest visibility, especially at night, choose reflective lettering for your color choice.

Is the 12x2" decal DOT compliant?
Yes. The 2" lettering height meets the FMCSA minimum visibility requirement of legibility from 50 feet, as specified in 49 CFR § 390.21. This decal is fully compliant for commercial motor vehicles required to display a USDOT number.

How many USDOT decals do I need?
FMCSA requires your USDOT number to be displayed on both sides of the vehicle. Order a minimum of 2 decals. One for the driver's side and one for the passenger's side.

What information needs to appear on the decal?
At minimum: your USDOT number. Many carriers also include company name, city/state, and operating authority (MC number). Use the text fields in our designer to add all required info.

Can I use this on a leased or rented vehicle?
Yes, but consider a magnetic sign version instead the are removable and won't leave residue. View our magnetic USDOT signs here.

How long will the decal last?
Our decals are die-cut from 9-year outdoor vinyl rated for exterior use. Expect 5–7+ years of durability under normal conditions. Reflective options maintain visibility longer in low-light environments.
