Fall Prep Tips for Truckers: Save Money, Stay Compliant, and Keep Rolling

There’s no doubt about it, 2025 has been a rough year for truckers. Rates are low, expenses are up, and a lot of folks are feeling the pressure. As we head into fall, now’s a good time to take stock of where you can tighten things up, stay compliant, and avoid costly mistakes that can put you out of service.

Here are a few things you can do right now to prep for the season ahead.

1. Give Your Decals a Quick Check

If you’re running with faded, peeling, or unreadable DOT numbers, that’s an easy ticket, or worse large fines. Fall weather brings rain, wind, and road grime. Make sure your company name, USDOT, MC, and other required markings are still legible. If you need replacements, we’ve got you covered with vinyl and magnetic options that meet FMCSA requirements and ship fast.

2. Stay Organized with Maintenance

Cooler temps can be hard on batteries, tires, and fluids. Create a quick checklist to review before your next run. A little fall maintenance now can save you big on repairs and downtime later.

3. Watch for Seasonal Enforcement

Some states ramp up inspections during harvest season or holidays. Make sure all your vehicle markings are current and compliant. We’ve seen a spike in last-minute orders from drivers who were flagged at weigh stations for non-compliant lettering. Don’t let that be you.

4. Save with Magnets if You Lease or Swap Equipment

If you’re switching between trucks or leasing, magnetic signs are a great way to stay compliant without having to commit to permanent decals. Just slap them on and roll. They're reusable, removable, and weather-resistant.

5. Get Ready for Winter While You Can

Fall is the time to stock up on essentials before prices spike. De-icer, chains, extra fluids, gloves, and visibility gear can be harder to find when temps drop. Think ahead and save yourself the scramble later.
